Highlights

Our Eco-Camping option, known as “Mandari Panga”, is the only tourist accommodation in Ecuador situated in a community within the boundaries of Yasuní National Park, and therefore isolated from other lodges. The project started in 2016 and supports the Indigenous community by providing jobs, transportation and education.

The Eco-Camping area is located on the former finca (small family farm) of the owner’s grandmother and is situated right next to the Tiputini River. There, another small stream of a black water river enters into Tiputini River, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in between your schedule of activities.

The Eco-Camping option places great value on sustainability and the preservation of fauna and flora in the rainforest. There are no light-producing generators, so you can enjoy the unique experience of camping in the Amazon and living with no electricity in romantic candlelight. Small devices can be charged with electricity provided by small solar panels.

Getting there

MAP Camping

A representative from our travel agency or from the Camp will pick you up from the airport or bus terminal in Coca Town. From there we drive for two hours through small towns and gravel roads through local communities. During the ride you will have the chance to see the massive impact of the oil industry.  Arriving in Pindo, you transfer to a motorized canoe and enjoy a one-hour ride on Tiputini River, into the Yasuní National Park until you reach the private dock of the Eco-Camping site.

Facilities

The Eco-Camp has a total of nine sheltered and elevated private platforms with either beautiful views to the river or into the surrounding rainforest. All tents are provided and equipped with mattresses, bedsheets, pillows and blankets – no need to bring your own gear! Bathrooms and showers (cold water) are shared with other guests.  At night, small solar lamps help you to find your way around the campsite. The restaurant, bathrooms and camping platforms are illuminated by candle light. This package includes three hot and delicious meals a day. The chef is awarded from the Association of Ecuador Chefs and transforms local products into exquisite cuisine.

Why this Eco-Camping?

We selected this campground because the owners place great value on sustainability. The atmosphere is unique and special and provides an opportunity to see billions of stars with zero light pollution—a breathtaking experience not to be missed. Although the Eco-Camp is not directly managed by the community, the Indigenous people of two tribes are strongly supported by the income of the camp in terms of employment, transportation, medicine and education for kids. We are proud to support the great work of this new project.
